Response, Characters:
The characters in this book were a very big part about what brung the action to the book. In the book The Hunger Games, there were three main characters in my opinion. These characters were in almost every scene in the book. These three characters would be Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Cato from sector 2. These characters were very important in the plot of the book because Katniss had fallen in love with Peeta whilst inside the Hunger Games. This event of them falling in love was very important because they were in a war when this happened. Cato came into the picture and he was just an evil person who cheated and wanted to go to any extent to win the Hunger Games.
Katniss Everdeen is a very stony seeming person, but deep down she is sympathetic and loving. Katniss lives a very tragic life in sector 12 where she has to take care of her sister and mother by herself. Katniss puts her most effort into everything that she does and in doing this she can just barely keep her struggeling family alive. At the beginning of the book, Katniss was very close to Gale. Gale is a friend of Katniss who lives outside of the sector most of the time and takes care of his family the same way as Katniss takes care of her own. Katniss and Gale hunt toghether outside of the sector and they help eachother towards feeding and taking care fo their families. When Katniss takes her position in the Hunger Games, she was away from home and unable to take care of her family. Instead, she had accidentally fallen in love with Peeta.
Peeta Mellark is a very strong man that is also quite upfront about things. Peeta is trying to make his way through the Hunger Games as easily as possible and now knowing that Katniss is one of his competitors he does not know what to do. Peeta knows that two may survive the competition and at first he thought that Katniss was an unexperienced fighter and would die quickly. This all changed as he got closer and closer to her in the Games and realized her skills with her bow are outrageous. Peeta became friends with her and realized how unexpressional she was. It was certain to Peeta that the only thing on her mind was killing but deep down Katniss was slowly falling in love with Peeta. After a while Peeta and Katniss both knew that they were in love with eachother.
